Hi! I'am Lorraine.
I’m originally from the Philippines and I am now an artist based between Karlovy Vary and Prague. I grew up in a big family surrounded by love, laughter, and happy memories. Being the youngest, I was always the playful one, the little clown who loved to make everyone smile. I would dance and find joy in every small thing.
Growing up, art was never really a focus in our family. I only remember one moment when my Papa showed a creative side, when he helped my sister with a school art project. That is the single memory I have of him doing anything artistic. Because of that, and because art did not seem like something that could lead to financial stability, I did not practise it much as a child. It stayed quietly in the background.
Now in my forties, I finally gave myself the chance to listen to that part of me. I started in a very simple way, with paint by numbers. When I finished my first one, I felt a deep sense of fulfilment, like I created something with my own hands. That feeling pushed me to try more. I challenged myself to paint without any guide, just following my intuition. My first painting was a gift for my in laws’ anniversary. I simply painted from the heart. They loved it, and that gave me the courage to continue.
I never planned to sell or show my art to the world. Painting was simply something that brought me peace and joy. My family appreciated my art, but it was my husband who encouraged me to share it beyond our home and who truly believed in my talent. He is the one who supported me all the way.
When I paint, my mind becomes quiet. I do not think about anything else, only colours, movement, and what I feel inside. Painting makes me feel calm, fulfilled, and happy. It feels like reconnecting with a part of myself that had been waiting patiently all these years in the background.
And now, wherever my paintings may live, in beautifully designed homes, boutique hotels, refined offices, curated interiors, private studios, or any space where people invest in beauty and take a moment to truly look, my hope is that they can feel that same calm.
